With the ninth season of Car Trek fully underway and part of it being filmed at Monterey Car Week 2022, I stole a few minutes of Ed Bolian’s time to ask him how he and the gang felt about being at what he calls “the center of the automotive universe.”
For the uninitiated, Monterey Car Week is a yearly week of car shows taking place in beautiful Monterey, CA. It is the home of world-renowed shows like Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance, The Quail, and numerous auction like R.M. Sotheby’s, Gooding & Company and Mecum.
Q: How did it feel to film at an event like MCW?
A: The great thing about our lives right now is that we are constantly blurring the line between work and fun. Filming Car Trek at events like The Amelia or Monterey Car Week is just about as fun as it gets. Car Week feels like the center of the automotive universe for a few days and we certainly made the most of it.
Q: How many times did y’all get recognized by fans? How did it feel?
A: The fun thing about making car content is that we live in that car-loving bubble. If I am in the airport or supermarket I might end up taking a photo or two with a fan and that is awesome but during Car Week, we are all in the same place! The chance to see so many enthusiastic viewers and get their feedback on what we were doing was a huge treat and a tremendous honor.
Q: Coming to next year’s car week?
A: I expect so but no specific programming plans just yet.

As for yours truly, I had the great pleasure to finally meet the boys in person at Concours D’Lemons after working with them for a couple of years and boy what a great time we had! We even got to witness Tyler kill the entire event’s audio system when he ran over the cords with his Ferrari! Good times were had by all, especially the tech support.
