SuperSunday IV is the most exclusive car event in the 916

Nestled between sprawling acres of gorgeous lawns, private ponds, and a runway, rests what is quite possibly Northern California’s most exclusive automotive event.

SuperSunday lives up to its name tenfold. Hosted by Brian of the local 9sixteenexotics crew, this private event invites a select group of supercar and hypercar owners along with only 40 handpicked members of the local automotive media to cover the event. I was fortunate enough to be chosen as media for the second time and if you know Brian, you won’t be surprised to hear that SuperSunday IV somehow managed to outdo itself.

With a roster of almost 150 cars, catered meals for the crowd, gourmet coffee and cocktails, along with a cigar bar to round it all of, you wouldn’t be wrong to think that Monterey Car Week had made its way to the Sacramento area.

Okay I know most of you are here for the cars so let me get to that. If you’re a fan of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, or anything that you might see Paris Hilton cruise around in, SuperSunday is the right place for you. Cars like that are breathtaking on their own, nobody will argue that, but to meticulously arrange them in a setting as beautiful as this private property was brings their beauty to a whole other echelon. It’s the automotive equivalent of feng shui – stunning cars in stunning scenery.

Their entry was just as spectacular as the cars themselves. SuperSunday takes advantage of the catwalk-like driveway leading up to the show field, giving each car its own moment in the spotlight. The photographers too took advantage of the opportunity, clicking away as each car rolled up and was directed towards its parking spot on the lawn.

Ding dong, it’s lunch time! Our hungry stomachs lined up to be filled by a fantastic catered lunch that looked as intricate as it tasted. The icing on the sundae, or I suppose on the cookie, was a 9sixteenexotics-themed sugar cookie. Not only was it a nice touch, but I will never turn down a sugar cookie. Extra points in my book!

Okay back to the cars. There’s something unique about walking up and down rows of cars at your leisure. Did you ever visit a dealership as a kid and ogled at the cars you dreamed of one day owning? It’s that day same feeling of awe and wonder except in this case, some are modified to show off their individual owner’s tastes. So not only are you awestruck by these automotive marvels, but you’re also exposed to the ingenious ways that people make these cars truly theirs. It’s like spending hours studying an author’s handwriting and noticing the little intricacies they put into the curve of every “e” and whether or not they cross their “z”.

Speaking of people, this article would be incomplete without mentioning the crowds. These are some of the nicest folks you are likely to meet at a car event. They would love nothing more than to show you where every single cent was spent on the car they’re driving and to talk to you at length about the love you share for automobiles. A special thank you goes out to “Shine for a Cause” for being the headlining non-profit charity at the event! Happy to support their great cause.

Oh what, it’s already 2 pm? I’ve been here for six hours already?! I guess time flies when you can’t believe that your eyes are not deceiving you. So, with great sadness that it was all over but extreme joy that it happened, we each made our way to our individual cars and filed down the same driveway we had just watched our dream rides parade on. In a way, that gave us our own moment in the spotlight, allowing us to visualize ourselves behind the wheel of one of those exotics. You really do feel like a superstar at SuperSunday. I guess it’s in the name huh?
